| FAQ - What Do I Need to Start Driving?
You need to be 17 Years old to be on a public road and possess a Provisional Drivers Licence obtained from the DVLA. They are a control system that allows your instructor to control the car and if necessary override the students inputs. This allows a wide safety margin and prevents accidents. - Why Are There So Many Mirrors In The Car?
This allows the Instructor to see what is behind the car themselves and another mirror to observe the students eye movements to ensure they are checking their mirrors when necessary. - If I Do Something Wrong, Will I Be Shouted At?
Definitely not! You are a customer and as such deserve to be treated with respect. You are also not expected to be competent in techniques straight away. People learn at different rates and we appreciate the need to adapt and be flexible with each student. - On My First Lesson Do I Have To Drive Straight Away?
Not unless you want to. We know how it feels to have pressure and it is recommended that we drive to a quiet area to learn the basics, then when you are confident you can drive away from your pick up point. - Do I Have To Come To Your Offices To Start The Lesson?
NO, we will pick you up from home or work or anywhere else for that matter! We also end the lesson at a place of your choice -within reason-. Just tell your instructor as soon as you start the lesson or before if you can and they will plan out your lesson appropriately. - How Do You Teach Nervous Drivers?
Basically, we build the students confidence and knowledge at the same time. By planning with the students needs in mind, a lesson should end with the student feeling confident and at a certain level of competency in regard to the lesson taught. For example you may be nervous with bay parking, so the instructor will brief you on the technique, using diagrams, then demonstrate it in a quiet area with little distraction and then encourage the student to try the technique. The first time the instructor will talk each action through and the second time prompt the student. The third time the student tries the instructor will just guide when needed. When competent in a quiet area the student can try the bay park in a busier area and actually try parking in between cars! Believe us, it is a lot easier than you think!!- What Is The Most Effective Way To Learn?
Don’t be fooled by other companies blurb who say intensive is best! It depends on your requirements and where you live. We recommend that a new student would be overloaded in the beginning and week long courses for beginners are not cost effective. We suggest a maximum of 6 hours a day for an intermediate or advanced student. A good intensive amount for a beginner is 3 x 2 hour sessions per week for about two to three weeks. This allows greater retention of the students learning to take place so they don’t “take three steps forward and two steps back”. After that it is recommended that 1 x 2 hour session a week would be sufficient. If you are unfortunate enough to fail your test; depending on your location a 1 hour session should keep you current.
What if I Damage The Car? Will I Get Charged?
